Invisalign®

Woman using a clear alignerIf you were alive in the 1980s, then you were lucky. You got to watch all of those great 80's films from John Hughes, that amazing director. Who could forget “The Breakfast Club,” for example? However, our thoughts are directed at Joan Cusak’s character in “Sixteen Candles.” Her Geek Girl character spent the entire movie in headgear.

Do you remember those horrible contraptions that people used to wear with braces? If you are dealing with crooked teeth, teeth with large spaces between them, or a large overbite, you know you need braces. However, the thought of wearing metal in your mouth may give you chills. What if Christensen Family Dentistrytold you that you could straighten your teeth without all the metal? We can do that for you- with Invisalign braces. Keep reading for more information about Invisalign.

The Un-brace Like Braces

Invisalign braces are clear plastic liners that fit over your teeth. You can remove them for eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth. They work to straighten out your teeth over time just like braces do. However, because they are clear, very few people will know that you are wearing them. There are many advantages to Invisalign. First, it appeals to many adults because they are difficult to see when you are wearing them. Many adults who wear braces are very self-conscious about their appearance when they are wearing braces. They love the idea of being able to straighten their teeth without metal.

Second, you won’t have to go and see a dental professional every month to get braces tightened. You will come to our office every other month for a new set of aligners.

Third, your treatment time will be shorter than if you use the traditional metal braces. Your mouth will like the Invisalign braces as well, because there are no wires to cut your cheek or gums.

How To Get Invisalign

To get Invisalign, you need to come to our office. We will look at your dental x-rays, and use photos and computer programs to develop a treatment plan for you. You will get your first set of aligners, and you will try them on in our office. That’s it. There’s no pain and no fuss. Instead of treating all of your teeth at one time, which is what braces do, we treat one or two teeth at a time. This leads to less pain for you and faster treatment time.

You need to do your part. Be sure that you are wearing your Invisalign product every day for 22 hours. You need to make sure you are brushing and flossing to keep those teeth healthy. Don’t forget to see us every two months to get checked and get your next set of aligners. Before you know it, you’ll be done! Do you have questions about how Invisalign can help your teeth?
